Northstar
(Marvel, 1994)
Marvel
Jean Paul Beubier is Northstar, high-flying speedster, former member of Alpha Flight, and Marvel’s first openly gay super-hero. He is now the star of the first mini-series to follow the demise of Alpha Flight, both as a group and as a comic title.
In this series, Jean Paul finds himself assaulted from all sides. The media hounds his every move looking for “something newsworthy,” Weapon P.R.I.M.E., a team of super-powered thugs, has been sent to reel him in as an “unacceptably public figure,” and someone is out to threaten the people who were major figures in his past. As it turns out, the heart of his difficulties is none other than Arcade, the maniacal gameplayer who has long been an enemy of the X-Men.
