    (Rosen, 2005)
™ and © Rosen

Called “Jumping Badger” at birth, his father later gave him the name “Slow” because he took his time and thought about everything he did and saw. Later, he earned his name of “Sitting Bull” after his first battle against the Crow. Sitting Bull became one of the greatest warriors of the Lakota nations, earning a place in history when he and his people defeated General George Custor at the Little Big Horn. Later, after his people were left to the reservations, Sitting Bull was amazed that the white man considered him a celebrity and spent his remaining years touring the country until he returned to his people. While trying to promote Indian unity and spiritual quests, Sitting Bull was killed shortly before the end of the Ghost Dance War.

Rosen Publishing has put together a series of non–fiction graphic novels to help promote literacy in the classrooms and help kids expand their reading selections.
