Robotech

Teen angst and daydreams seem to be the order of the day in this Robotech series set against a military backdrop in the not-too-distant future of 2007. It’s “Beverly Hills 90210” with fighter jets and rockets! While Ted Nomura’s script is somewhat pedestrian, his artwork—due in great part to the coloring—is gorgeous and certainly brings this anime-inspired comic book to life. Readers may need to be familiar with the Robotech saga in order to fully appreciate this series because little effort is made to introduce the characters and their motivations to the audience. Still, if doe-eyed manga girls are your cup of tea, this is right up your alley!
