Green Lantern/Sentinel: Heart of Darkness

Unlike its competitors, DC Comics has a rich tradition of passing the name of some of its greatest heroes onto a new generation. For example, three separate individuals have donned the red and gold lightning bolt of the Flash, while both a mother and daughter have adopted the persona of Black Canary. In the case of the Heart of Darkness comic book, two generations of Green Lanterns band together for one very personal mission.

The three-issue mini-series teams the current power ring bearer Kyle Rayner up with the original Emerald Knight Alan Scott, currently known as the Sentinel. The two fight side by side in pursuit of the missing Jade—Scott’s daughter and Rayner’s girlfriend. What unfolds is not only another super-hero slugfest, but also an interesting retelling of two generations worth of heroic tradition. What else would you expect from Ron Marz—a writer who has an overwhelming command of the Green Lantern mythos?
