Mordecai Yoculan’s life, both professional and personal, was circling the drain. He’d lost his job as the Baltimore Medical Examiner, his wife was leaving him and his daughter, while running from him during a tantrum, was killed by a car. Then, while waiting at a railroad crossing, his pickup truck was forced into the path of the oncoming train. Later in the morgue, he was resurrected and recruited as the Fifth Horseman by the Inquisition, which finally gave direction to his aimless life.

The Inquisition is a covert group of demon hunters who protect the sanctity of the earth from the onslaught of mythical creatures that convert their human hosts to tentacled monstrosities. This five-issue limited series by writer, Dan Jolley and artist Tony Harris has the eerie other-worldliness sensibility of Mike Mignola’s Hellboy.
