The Punisher: Kingdom Gone
(Marvel, 1990)
™ and ©1990 Marvel Entertainment Group
This 1990 hard-cover graphic novel finds The Punisher on the trail of Hamilton “Bo” Greaves, a financier who specializes in laundering money for the mob. The Punisher launched his usual devastating assault on Greaves’ headquarters, but Greaves managed to escape in a helicopter bound for the small Caribbean island of Puerto Salvaje. Worse, he managed to take most of his ill-gotten assets with him.
For Greaves, his exile in Puerto Salvaje is just an excuse to spend some time in the sun before buying up the local economy. The island’s ruler wisely asked for help from the American ambassador, but the government expressed no interest until he hinted at an alliance between Greaves and Communist Cuba. This provided the cue for a sudden invasion of U.S. marines bent on curbing “Communist involvement.” But the Punisher was hardly about to let the marines do his work for him; he decided to launch his own invasion of the little island.
