The original Mickey Mouse Club was the launch pad of quite a few child stars, but none rose so highly as Annette Funicello. Originally cast as a dancer on the show, Annette was soon recruited into a singing as well as an acting career. When the Club was cancelled, Annette was retained for starring roles in a few Disney movies before graduating to a career of Beach Party movies. One of those movies, which originally appeared on The Wonderful World of Color, was Escapade in Florence, a mystery concerning an art forgery scheme in Italy.
