Crossfire and Rainbow

    (Eclipse, 1986)
™ and ©1986 Mark Evanier and Dan Spiegle

Crossfire and Rainbow are two of the DNAgents, a team of genetically altered super-heroes. Thanks to the writing of Mark Evanier, they come across as far more than just another band of colorfully clad super-folk, constantly racing around and chasing super-villains.

Crossfire and Rainbow is a perfect example of the human touch that made the DNAgents such an enjoyable series. Jay Endicott (Crossfire) and Rainbow spend as much time battling over issues of trust, past relationships, and their own identities as they do tracking down the requisite bad guys. As the story develops, it becomes clear how much the two need each other—and not just for the purposes of pooling their powers to defeat the bad guys. At the same time, they uncover secrets about their own past, and the strange changes they’ve been through since becoming DNAgents.
