Big Chief Wahoo
(Eastern Color, 1941-1944)
™ and © Publishers Syndicate
This series ran seven issues from 1942 until 1944 and featured two-page gags starring comic strip headliner and Native American stereotype Big Chief Wahoo, hot babe Minnie Ha Cha, dopey buddy Mooseface, and upstart kid Fuzzy Bear. The humor is somewhat Vaudevillian, arising from the situations in which Wahoo finds himself, i.e. making ice cream, worrying a stereotypical Chinese cook, attending a costume party dressed as a white rabbit, etc. It is important to note that comic strip adventurer Kerry Drake appears in some issues of this title.
