Series continues in The Unexpected #105

Tales of the Unexpected was one of several DC anthology titles from the 1950s, bridging the gap between the hard science fiction of Mystery in Space and Strange Adventures and the soft-edged horror of House of Mystery and House of Secrets. Early issues featured action-oriented suspense and adventure tales, including a few memorable entries by Jack Kirby. With issue #40, Tales of the Unexpected became home to Space Ranger, a science-fiction hero whose lighthearted exploits continued through the 1960s. Eventually, the contents changed back to story-length mystery and adventure, with no continuing features. The title was shortened to The Unexpected after issue #105, and continued with a sharper horror/mystery focus into the early 1980s.
