In honor of his fiftieth anniversary, Scrooge McDuck became the star of this new series from Gladstone. The series largely featured reprints from Scrooge’s long comic history, kicking off with “The Twenty-four Carat Moon.” In this classic by Carl Barks, Uncle Scrooge hears of the discovery of a hidden moon made of solid gold. A space race against various competitors soon commences, but Scrooge, Donald Duck, and Scrooge’s nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie manage to reach it first. There the lone inhabitant offers to trade the rights to the entire planet for a mere handful of dirt…but naturally, there’s a catch.
