The Bruiser
(Mythic, 1996)
™ and © 1996 Mythic Comics and Angelo Furlan
What do Elvis, a bikini contest, a police department picnic, and an armored creep named King Solomon have in common? They all figure prominently in the first issue of The Bruiser, a black-and-white super-hero title from Mythic Comics. The Bruiser is a police-sanctioned vigilante who takes on everything from bank robbers to paranormal threats to the city of Halycon. He also has a wife to contend with, and sometimes she’s not too fond of the attention her husband gets when he dons his mask. Remember that bikini contest? She didn’t like that so much. This is an excellent title from Angelo Furlan (Sinnamon), Pia J. Guerra, Peter Palmiotti (Children of the Night), and Jimmy Palmiotti (Daredevil).
