This Magazine is Haunted (1st Series)

™ and ©1951 Fawcett Publications, Inc.
Series continued in Danger & Adventure #22

Running during the prime horror comic years of 1951–1954, This Magazine is Haunted was one of the better titles in its field. The stories were both gruesome and compelling, usually with a strong moral twist in which evildoers got to experience firsthand that which they inflicted on others. For instance, “The Aged Curse!” shows the headmaster of an old people’s home cruelly mistreating his charges, until one old man asks, “Would you treat yourself this way?” Soon afterward, the headmaster himself begins aging terribly and is eventually hauled away as an imposter. In the end, he is placed in an old people’s home, where the cruel headmaster is…himself!

Doctor Death, a top hat-wearing ghoul hosted this series until the Comics Code eventually ended the era of horror comics in 1954.
