Mazie and her pals at Greenview High School kept teens and their younger siblings entertained throughout the 1950s in a series of innocuous humor stories in the Archie vein. Mazie, the blond flirt, was the titular star of the series, but her suitors Stevie and Flat-Top, rival Jeanie, geekish pal Mortie, and little brother Brod often stole the show with more broad-based gags. The tone of the series was much more hip than many other teen humor books, with references to jazz, youth-oriented movies like Rebel Without a Cause, and early rock ‘n ‘roll inserted in the stories and in the text-based features. Mazie disappeared from the stands in 1958.
