Green Lantern: Fear Itself
(DC, 1999)
™ and © DC Comics
During World War Two, a grotesque alien creature capable of absorbing vast amounts of energy as well as tapping into its enemy’s greatest fears, threatens Washington D.C. It is only through the efforts of Alan Scott, the Earth’s first Green Lantern, that the strange being is defeated. Decades later, the creature awakens from its long dormancy and threatens Coast City, home of Hal Jordan, the second and perhaps greatest Green Lantern. Jordan, known as the man without fear, sees through a terrifying illusion of the entire city utterly destroyed, and apparently destroys the creature for the second time.
Now Kyle Rayner, the latest man to bear the emerald power ring, also faces the alien, larger and more powerful than ever. Defying all logic, as well as his friends in the JLA, Kyle confronts his own inner fears and chooses to aid the bizarre creature instead of seeking its destruction.
