Lucky Fights It Through
(E.C., 1949)
™ and © William M. Gaines, Agent
This harmless educational comic discusses the dangers of venereal disease and achieved later fame as a comic drawn by Harvey Kurtzman, the creator of Mad and Two-Fisted Tales. In fact, it resembles a typical story from Two-Fisted if you ignore the mature subject matter presented. Cowboy Lucky Jordan attains the disease by sleeping with Katy, a carrier of syphilis. Lucky soon notices the rash on his face, and fortunately seeks medical attention before it becomes fatal. This tale was reprinted in the paperback volume entitled Teen-Aged Dope Slaves and Reform School Girls.
