Series continues in Sensational Spider-Man (3rd Series) #23

Despite the fact that he sleeps with a supermodel-actress, nerdy Peter Parker has always been the ultimate Everyman hero. Beset by problems both financial and physical, Parker struggles like the rest of us, only more so, since costumed creeps are always wending their way into his web. With the advent of Marvel Knights Spider-Man, things seem to be pretty much status quo (if a bit more brutal), and finds a beaten and bruised Parker-Spider-Man worrying about Aunt May, agonizing over credit-card debt, and being attacked by Dr. Octopus.

Like so many Marvel comics these days, the issue is a little on the talky side, with nothing much in the way of action. Fortunately, the story is in the capable hands of Mark Millar, who can belt out plausible dialogue with the best of them. Also, the cliffhanger ending looks like an impossible situation for our web-slinging Wall-Crawler, and art by Frank Cho (Liberty Meadows) is gorgeous: Big-bosomed beauties Mary Jane and The Black Cat make suffering look fun.
