Frank Castle—The Punisher—has a second chance for redemption granted by a Grigori who disdained responsibility given unto him by God. No longer hindered by human emotions and seemingly impervious to physical harm, Castle has but one purpose: to purge evil. From the Gospel According to Matthew, 13:39: “The field is the world; the good seeds are the children of the Kingdom; but the tares are the children of the Wicked One. The enemy that sowed them is the Devil; the harvest is the End of the Age; and the Reapers are the Angels.” Prophetic words indeed.

An interesting subplot involves the Grigori, earthbound angels that succumbed to sins of the flesh. For those transgressions against God, the Grigori have been forbidden to enter Heaven. Some of the gorier depictions of death mark this as a title for mature readers only.
