Olive Us Comic Book Greeting Cards
(Smokin’ Joe, 2004)
™ and © Smokin’ Joe
Published by Smokin’ Joe Comics, entrepreneur Cary Lucifer combines two different media formats in this five–and–a–quarter by eight–and–a–half inch, 16–page, full–color comic book slash greeting card.
Olive Us is the daughter of world–famous nano–scientist Eugene Us. After Dr. Us is found murdered, Olive teams up with her father’s trusted associate Oggy to continue his groundbreaking work. As “Olive Us” is more or less homonymous with “all of us”, each book ends with a surprise greeting card message, such as “Happy Birthday” or “Get Well Soon” delivered from “Olive Us”—get it? A blank space is left for gift bearers and card senders to sign names and write personal messages.
At the time of this writing, Smokin’ Joe plans to market their product in comic shops and novelty stores using a display case containing 20 books, each individually wrapped in a plastic sleeve with an envelope suitable for mailing. Plans call for successive Olive Us books to follow in time.
