Damselvis, Daughter of Helvis Supermag
(Eros, 1994)
©1994 by John Michaelvis McCarthy
This comic book/fumetti mag/film photobook lets readers in on the inside story of what may be one of the worst movies ever shot.
The plot of Damselvis, Daughter of Helvis is weirdness itself: A black Jesus sends his three followers to “stop the flowering daughter of Dionysis [sic] before she can raise Him from the tomb.” The followers hop on their bikes and ride to do their master’s bidding. One of the them, Candy, comes upon Isla M., a schoolgirl whom Candy attempts to kill. At that moment, however, Candy is stopped by the image of Rebelvis, who turns Isla M. into the motorcycle vixen Damselvis. From there on, it’s a strange race to the finish as the other disciples try to stop Damselvis from reaching the pyramid at Memphis to raise Helvis himself.
Readers who have a keen sense for schlock and bad movies will find all that and more in this odd one-shot from Eros.
