Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm are the children, respectively, of Fred and Wilma Flintstone and Barney and Betty Rubble. During the original Flintstones TV series of the 1960s, they were introduced as very young children to add an element of domesticity to the increasingly outlandish exploits of Fred and the gang. In the early 70s, Hanna-Barbera decided to launch a new Flintstones series aimed at younger viewers in which the kids would now be teen-agers with all the typical problems of adolescents growing up in the Stone Age. Bubbly redhead Pebbles inherited her father’s knack for getting into trouble, while the good-natured if slightly dim-witted Bamm-Bamm often saved the day with his super strength. Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm’s teen-age antics were brought to the comics’ page courtesy of Charlton.
