Big Pants Mouse

™ and © Dumm Comics

Big Pants Mouse is a giant, anthropomorphic mouse with magical pants. One day he discovers that his pants aren’t working and he resolves to fix them. At first glance at the art, the reader will get the feeling that Big Pants Mouse creator Gabe Swarr was influenced by John Kricfalusi’s Ren & Stimpy. Upon reading, however, you will find none of the depth or irony that that series, or later Spumco creations, contained. Big Pants Mouse is page after page of huge panels, as the title character inexplicably tries wilder and wilder schemes. It’s sophomoric and quite bizarre. The cleverest bit? Big Pants Mouse’s rival, Little Hats Dog, a dog with two tiny top hats perched on its head. Say what you want about Big Pants Mouse, you can’t criticize Dumm Comics for its name. It certainly fits.
