The Poison Elves series created by Drew Hayes proved that defying expectations about cute and adorable elves could be a welcome change. The success of that series prompted this spin–off which features Hyena, a powerful sorceress, who was the girlfriend of the elf Lusiphur in the original series. In this series she is teamed with Quinn, an earth elemental in elf form. Together, they are on the trail of Block the Golem who savagely beat her and can now siphon off her sorcerous ability with the power of his jeweled forearm. However, when they find the golem, he’s already dead and his arm is missing.

Drew Hayes handed off the production of this series to Keith Davidsen and Scott Lewis. The writing here contains some clever dialogue, but the story is not reader–friendly and the art is stiff and generic.
