The Big Top
(Toby, 1951)
™ and ©1951 Station WCAU Philadephia, Penna, an affiliate of the Columbia Broadcasting System
Big Top Comics, based on an early 1950s television program of the same name, featured a variety of circus-themed stories centered on the cast of TV characters. The heroes included Ringmaster Jack, the gruff but fair circus boss; Topper the Boy Acrobat, an intrepid, if slightly dense, trapeze artist; and assorted clowns, animal trainers, and pretty-girl dancers. The book also offered games and puzzles for younger readers, and the obligatory text-only story as well.
Big Top folded its tents after only two issues.
