This series follows the tragic events of the Silver Surfer: Homecoming graphic novel. There, the Silver Surfer was finally reunited with his beloved Shalla Bal, only to lose her again as the price for saving the world of Zenn-La. Driven to the brink of madness by Shalla Bal’s death, the Surfer approached Adam Warlock and the Infinity Watch, keepers of the all-powerful Infinity Gems and requested the unthinkable: to bring Shalla Bal back from death. The mysterious Warlock agreed—with the understanding that someday the Surfer might come to his aid.

If the Surfer and Warlock were going to dare taking on Death, they should have known that Death would not take this reversal of the cosmic rules lying down. Death enlisted the help of dark forces to stop them, including Mephisto, the lord of demons. The Surfer might be able to reclaim Shalla Bal from the realm of shadows…but not without paying the devil his due!
