As Tom Sniegoski, the writer said, “The days of Vampirella standing around looking winsome are over.” 1994’s Vengeance of Vampirella shows how far the beautiful bloodsucker had gone since her days as a gag piece in the original Vampirella (Magazine). This series finds her at her most savage, a hunter of evil beasts, who is herself a night dweller.

This instinct was awakened in her following her meeting with Dracula in Harris’ previous Vampirella series. That series met an early end as Harris fell further and further behind their announced ship dates. In Vengeance of Vampirella, both Harris and Vampi get to make a fresh start of it—and the results are startling to behold.
