Hero Hotline

    (DC, 1989)
™ and ©1989 DC Comics, Inc.

If you need a hero real badly, call 1-800-555-HERO and hook up with some really bad heroes. It’s Hero Hotline, a publicly sponsored group of super-heroes just waiting to help those in need. The day shift consists of such illustrious souls as Voice-Over, a ham with the power to mimic any voice or sound, and throw his voice like an expert ventriloquist; Hotshot, a human flamethrower who joined up because it beat cooking hamburgers at Burger King; Private Eyes, a detective with microscopic/macroscopic eyeglasses; and Mr. Muscle, a body builder whose ego is as developed as his physique. And the night shift? Well, let’s just say they’re the heroes who didn’t quite make the first team.

This goofy mini-series ran six issues, following a preview in Action Comics #637–640.
