Skate punk Skyler is a science intern working with Dr. Mirra Martin (in spite of being confined to a wheelchair, she’s a fabulous babe with incredible gams) on solid hologram technology that imitate living creatures’ abilities. In a weird attempt to become popular, Skyler shows it off at school and just as irresponsibly shares “his” tech with hottie Kat, amateur Meat Loaf imitator Bam, jock Zak, and brain Jessie. Coveting it is Dr. Tiberious Spydre, who doesn’t wait until he’s a declared super-villain to dress like an old-school Bond villain.

J. Scott Campbell has returned from his sabbatical with a more animated, elongated art style that seems to have a touch of Mad’s Mort Drucker in its DNA. Campbell has definitely picked up a knack for caricaturing celebrities; character actor Vincent Schiavelli has a cameo. And, while still unbelievably attractive, each of his characters now has a distinctive “look” that’s his or her own.

Basically, this is a WB-teen-drama version of Power Rangers—but it has a surprising amount of silly fun.
