Elric: Weird of the White Wolf

    (First, 1986-1987)
™ and ©1986 First Comics, Inc. and Star*Reach Productions

This mini-series was one of a series of adaptations of the Elric novels and stories written by Michael Moorcock. A high fantasy character, Elric is a tall albino prince who possesses (or is possessed by) the rune-carved black sword Stormbringer which gives him strength, but at a price. He exists in a world where the eternal struggle between the forces of law and chaos leads to conflict and magical situations. This particular story is about his quest for the Dead Gods book, a powerful source of mystical knowledge.

Adapted by Roy Thomas, the very appropriate art is by P. Craig Russell and Michael T. Gilbert. Cerebus fans will also note that Elric was the inspiration for the parody character, Elrod the Albino, in Cerebus the Aardvark.
