Part of a new batch of non-super-hero titles from the Jim Lee-run studio, The Resistance is a bleak look at a future devoid of food and resources, which is controlled by a fascist agency that dominates the lives of its citizens. This control goes so far, and the food situation is so desperate, that no one is allowed to give birth without permission and people over the age of 65 are denied medical attention. There is a force of rebels fighting this new dictatorship, however, and it is among these so-called Strayz that Brian Sturm (a/k/a Brainstorm) finds himself when his illegal status is discovered by the powers that be. Part cyberpunk thrill ride and part dystopian fantasy, The Resistance is a fast and furious read.
