Containment
(IDW, 2005)
™ and © 2005 Erid Red & Idead + Design Works, LLC
In the year 2025, 200 million miles from Earth aboard the NASA Explorer, something goes wrong. Twenty–six years into a 32–year journey to Saturn, Commander Stark is abruptly awakened from her cryogenic hibernation and attacked by several members of her crew who have apparently gone insane from a cryogenic malfunction. After she is forced to kill one of them, she retreats to another section of the ship to waken the rest of her crew. Now they are prisoners in their quarters while their mad former crewmates recklessly overrun the ship.
The dark, utilitarian design of the ship, devoid of any sleek lines or clean well–lit corridors, evokes the familiar sense of doom that defined the original Alien. Much of this familiarity may be an intentional homage however, since the cliffhanger ending line is “In space, nobody knows you’re dead.”
— George Haberberger
