Slave Pit Funnies
(Slave Pit, 1995)
™ and © 1995 Slave Pit Inc.
The cover-hype of this comic claims GWAR are an out-of-control, no-holds-barred rock band whose performances are about as much fun as, say, an earthquake. Naturally, the whole rock band gig is just the current perception of what is really an out-of-control, no-holds-barred band of cosmic entities intent on wreaking general chaos and mayhem. According to one crazed, fugitive GWAR slave, they are already responsible for most epic events in Earth’s history, from the destruction of Atlantis to turning a once fertile Egypt into the Sahara Desert. They are even responsible, through forced breeding (read rape) of human women, for the creation of many creatures now considered only myths.
The comic version GWAR are apparently based on a large group of real-life radical performance artists, who do their best to live up to the hardcore chaos depicted in the comic.
