Created by Steve Englehart, and first appearing in Marvel Preview in 1976, Star-Lord is a peaceful adventurer with a sentient ship. Star-Lord is the product of the union between an Earth woman and a stranded alien voyager. When the young Peter Jason Quill witnessed his mother‘s murder by a lizard-headed hitman, he changed his name to Star-Lord and started traveling the stars in search of justice. This is space opera in the purest sense, featuring intergalactic wars, evil despotic regimes and a host of assorted aliens.

In anticipation of a new limited series, Marvel reissued the original story by Chris Claremont and John Byrne from Star-Lord, The Special Edition.
