What if Aunt May had Died Instead of Uncle Ben?

™ and © Marvel Characters, Inc.

Two comic geeks stand around in a comic store, debating the subject of the title of this one-shot issue that harkens back to the two Marvel Comics series that explored several entertaining possibilities for their characters.

In this comic, Peter Parker's Aunt May is killed by the robber he refused to stop and in a twist, ends up accidently killing the criminal. Peter's Uncle Ben, who knows the truth about Spider-Man, takes the rap to protect his nephew. Consumed by guilt, Peter becomes a delinquent and discipline problem, sleeps in alleyways and generally becomes miserable until he decides to get his act together with Ben's help. The ironic twist is that by the end of the story, there is very little difference between this version of the Wall-Crawler from the real one as the adage "with great power comes great responsibility" is once again proven as true.
