Hellblazer/The Books of Magic

    (Vertigo, 1997-1998)
™ and ©1988 DC Comics

This two-issue mini-series combines two of Vertigo’s more popular offbeat occult series, Hellblazer and Books of Magic, as protagonists John Constantine and Timothy Hunter join forces to help Constantine confront some of his personal demons. Constantine’s caustic cockney charm works to good effect played against the youthful insouciance of Tim Hunter, the twelve-year-old mage-in-training from Books of Magic, as the two venture into Constantine’s private hell to rescue some of his own lost innocence. This capable fare lives up to Vertigo’s usual high standards, and is written by Paul Jenkins and John Ney Rieber, with art from Paul Lee.
