This four-issue series features a young boy named Tapiet who is known as a “book.” Books are the universe’s information stores, with a genetic imperative to discover and convey information, or die trying. Tapiet travels the cosmos and attains information that can be used to destroy galaxies and delivers it to his clients. However because he is a boy, he is not taken seriously by adults. When his ship was damaged, he was stranded on a space station where a military captain tried to give Tapiet unwanted help, and refused to believe that Tapiet is who he said he was.

The captain’s opinion of Tapiet changed, however, when the station was attacked by gigantic space worms and Tapiet revealed that he could communicate with them. The captain vowed to get to the bottom of the mystery behind Tapiet, and followed the young boy as he left the space station. The captain might be happier, however, if he never learns the truth…
