Richie Rich (1st Series)
(Harvey, 1960-1991, 1997)
™ and ©1967 Harvey Features Syndicate
With his big red bow tie, top coat, and blond hair parted down the middle (turn-of-the-century style), Richie Rich is one of the world’s most recognizable comic characters and a kid favorite for over 35 years. Richie is a “poor little rich boy,” with enough cash to give Scrooge McDuck a run for his money, yet with all the same problems and turmoils as any eight-year-old kid.
Richie began as a supporting character in Little Dot, but Harvey could tell that they had hit on a successful formula and spun Richie off into his own book in 1960. Eventually, he would star in over thirty titles, digests, specials, and annuals as the flagship character of Harvey’s comic book line.
