Joe Palooka (2nd Series)

This second Joe Palooka series ran from 1945 until 1961. Its feature character was blonde boxing champ and all-American good guy Joe Palooka. A bruiser in the ring, Joe took on adventure wherever it could be found, from deep sea diving to fighting criminals.

Joe was accompanied by a cast of supporting characters, including Knobby Walsh, his friend and manger; Grey Cloud and the Old Chief, two Indian friends; Smokey, his valet and trusted companion; and a big grizzly bear named Toti. The series also featured Hubert, a rather large comic character who, when not performing pratfalls, challenged readers with a variety of puzzles and games.
