Picture News

(News in Color and Action, 1946-1947)
™ and ©1945 News in Color and Action, Inc.

Picture News featured comic book stories based on actual news events of its day. In fact, since the series began a year after the end of World War II, several issues featured atomic bomb-related stories. Designed to educate and entertain, Picture News also presented stories based on the lives and experiences of celebrities in the news, such as Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, June Allyson, and Jackie Robinson. Issue #10, the series’ last, introduced the fictional Dick Quick, Ace Reporter, an effort to place a young person with whom readers could identify in the stories.
