In the spirit of Ghost in the Shell creator Masamune Shirow’s menu of sci-fi ideas, brutal violence, high-tech visuals, and a pinch of cheesecake, Junction 17 is an American comic book aiming for fans of Japanese manga, especially Shirow’s. Taking place in the near future, the series centers on a fighting game called Black Wave. Black Wave requires its players to link their minds via cell phones. However, a mentally imbalanced fan, the Ghost, is now killing the game’s finest players.
