There are comic book fans, and then there are the seriously obsessed trio of lovable losers that make this title their own. Allen, whose speech pattern recalls a certain Asgardian (forsooth!); cool yet paranoid Jim; and Keith, who often finds himself as peacemaker, are friends, but their comics are their gods. Together they present a strong argument that too many comic books are a bad thing. Then again, maybe their quirks are in part a result of the people around them: Jim’s high-strung father; his survivalist uncle; or the chain-smoking, comic-reading Goth chick, Sky. Then again, it might just be the comics.

Regardless, their adventures, which have included a trip to a comic convention; an attempt to use comic knowledge to pick up girls; and building a Y2K survival bunker filled with comic books, not only showcase their geekiness, but also the wit and insight of creators Rich Koslowski and Gary Sassaman. Issues in this black-and-white Image series also feature various offbeat backup stories.
