Man Comics

    (Marvel, 1949-1953)
™ and ©1952 Newsstand Publications, Inc.

One of the early Atlas war comics, Man Comics specialized in tales of combat, courage, and daring in the face of danger. In its early issues, Man Comics was originally a crime and adventure series, but switched to war tales with issue #9.

Although the stories were not exceptional, Man Comics was lucky to feature early work by several of the medium’s legendary artists. Included were issue #1 and #2’s pages by George Tuska, various issues by Gene Colan (Tomb of Dracula), Bernie Krigstein’s unsettling style seen in issue #22, which became better known at EC on titles such as Shock SuspenStories.
