What If Magneto Had Formed the X-Men With Professor X?
(Marvel, 2005)
™ and © 2004 Marvel Characters, Inc.
Life is full of choices, and we can’t always see past the choices we have to make. This one–shot, in the tradition of Marvel’s ongoing What If? series, takes Magneto back to a critical moment in his history—and this time, he makes a different choice. Whereas in the Marvel Universe we know the powerful mutant put himself at odds with Charles Xavier, in this one, he honors Xavier’s request to work together for the betterment of mutantkind. The result is an X-Men team slightly different than the one we know, from top to bottom, and an entirely different world, too.
This title is fairly straightforward as What Ifs go, and since Magneto has led the X-Men into battle on occasion in “our” universe, it’s not exactly a bizarre notion. It’s written by legendary X–scribe Chris Claremont and drawn by Tom Raney.
