Will Eisner’s Quarterly

Kitchen Sink published The Spirit (Magazine) from 1977 until 1983; highlights of that stellar run included occasional new stories and artwork for the master himself, Will Eisner, as well as Eisner-conducted interviews with other comics legends—including Jack Kirby in a column entitled “Shoptalk.” Will Eisner’s Quarterly and The Spirit (8th Series) replaced The Spirit (Magazine), and while the quarterly magazine reprinted some of Eisner’s super-hero work, it also presented some of Eisner’s more poignant and dramatic work, most notably A Life Force—a return to 55 Dropsie Avenue, the Bronx; the folks who lived there during the Great Depression; and the saga that began in the graphic novel A Contract with God. The “Shoptalk” column continued in the quarterly, too; in fact, the first issue featured an interview with the great Neal Adams.
