Young Jack and his two uncles find themselves cast adrift after a mysterious storm sinks their boat off the coast of Massachusetts. Naturally, they are quite happy when they’re rescued, until they realize they have been saved by what appears to be a group of pirates in an ancient galleon. Their escape from the privateers is only the beginning of their adventures, however. While his uncles seem oblivious to the unusual circumstances of their situation, Jack slowly adjusts to the notion that they may have been somehow cast back in time, to the era of Columbus. But after encounters with a talking duck, a strange fish-man, and Spanish Conquistadors with removable heads, Jack soon realizes that time travel is the least of their problems.

Combining fiction and myth with accepted facts, Colonia makes justifiable speculations about Columbus’ colonization of the New World, and the years that followed.
