Out of the Vortex (Comics’ Greatest World…)
(Dark Horse, 1993-1994)
™ and ©1994 Dark Horse Comics, Inc.
This title marked the real beginning of Dark Horse’s Comics’ Greatest World. Its story began 40 years ago as an alien scientist working with the U.S. military at Cinnabar Flats had an experiment go terribly wrong. There was a huge explosion, followed by a rush of energy. This energy became the Vortex, and the scientist was swept inside it. Meanwhile, Seekers from the alien scientist’s race had been searching for him for years, meaning to destroy “the Heretic.” They appeared all through the CGW previews.
In Comics’ Greatest World: Out of the Vortex, the Seekers finally located their prey. The scientist emerged from the Vortex, having become its living embodiment. The Seekers attacked, but the Vortex managed to best his would-be executioners. Unfortunately, their brethren would soon appear to finish the job. And when they had accomplished their holy mission of destroying the Heretic, they meant to turn Earth into a blackened cinder in space!
