Cole Blaquesmith fell asleep for 100 years. Upon waking up, he found himself in a nightmare techno-Victorian world controlled by Mortimer Absinthe. Somehow, this madman has managed to twist the world into a reflection of his own deranged psyche. He has even gone so far as to replace our hero’s heart with a steam-powered engine! Trapped in a world where he does not belong, Blaquesmith fights to make things right again, all the while driven by a hatred for the scheming Lord Absinthe.

Writer Joe Kelly and artist Chris Bachalo are the “creatives” behind this incredibly dense tale of fantasy and science fiction. Publishing under the Cliffhanger imprint (a division of Wildstorm Productions), the book packs each panel with an imagery that borders on confusing. With this project, the creative duo hope to reach a different kind of audience—one willing to wade through intense storytelling and confusing plot twists to reach an ultimate payoff. But be forewarned—this title is not for the casual reader.
