Tales of the Cyborg Gerbils

The popular British imprint Harrier Comics strikes again, this time with its “taken seriously,” anthropomorphic sci-fi comic Tales of the Cyborg Gerbils. From the mind of UK small press contributor John Jackson comes this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-type black and white book, chopped full of exciting short stories (four to be exact).

Tales of the Cyborg Gerbils tells the story of, you guessed it, four cyborg gerbils—intelligent, human-like rodents—sent from the future to the present-day to assassinate some rather nasty people before they get around to doing some rather nasty things. Upon accomplishing their mission, the high-tech paramilitary unit must learn to adapt to the modern, human world seeing how a return to their own time period is an impossibility.

Serious, edgy and often times humorous, Jackson puts his expertise in strip work to the test in this unique multistory format. Guest artists, like Alan Davis (who designed the gerbil’s futuristic weaponry), make picking up each book both a surprise and a pleasure.
