Soldier Comics

™ and ©1952 Fawcett Publications, Inc.

Soldier Comics debuted in 1952, just a few short years after the U.S. had helped defeat the Axis powers in World War II. Once again, the U.S. was at war—this time against the Communists in Korea. Fawcett’s Soldier Comics reflected a certain tiredness and fatalism in its war stories. Although they contained plenty of action, they lacked a sense of grand drama and high-flying heroism that war comics traditionally possessed. Perhaps because of this, the series lasted just eleven issues.
