Doctor Zero

    (Epic, 1988-1989)
™ and ©1988 Epic Comics

This title was the first of three from Epic which formed “The Shadowline Saga.” (The other two are Power Line and St. George.) The overarching premise is that of a race of beings who evolved alongside humans, albeit a great deal better. Still, mankind bred in greater numbers and the other race was forced to go into hiding—to become “Shadow Dwellers.” They still live among us, but secretly, shaping mankind’s destiny to their own ends.

Doctor Zero is the most powerful member of the Shadow Dwellers and has chosen to make his presence known in a spectacular way. He first launches, then stops a missile attack on a summit meeting of the world’s leaders. As a result, he appears to all to be a “real life super-hero.” Only Doctor Zero’s motives are not nearly so pure.
